Clapper Rail
Rallus longirostris

This endangered sub-species is the Light-footed Clapper Rail which lives in brackish water estuaries. These birds were born in captivity as part of an endangered species propagation program at the Chula Vista Nature Center. Watch curator Charles Gailband as he transfers the birds from the nursery cage to the proving enclosure. This is a fascinating story!
