This spider is one of three different critters with the name daddy-long-legs. It is true that its fangs are very small, but it is a myth that it is highly venomous, only typically so. Another common species of arachnid, harvestmen, are also called daddy-long-legs. They are not spiders, but members of their own Order, Opiliones. They have just one pair of eyes, one body segment, no fangs and do not produce silk. A crane fly is the third creature with the same name.
