Gopher Snake
Pituophis cantenifer

This species of snake has a niche in the habitats of the Western United States. It is a beneficial rodent catcher and is much appreciated by ranchers and farmers who deal with gopher damage to grass and crop lands. This is a nonpoisonous snake who kills its prey by constriction.
