Peregrine Falcon
Falco peregrinus

This predator species comes to Southern California in the winter to hunt and breed. They like shore birds, pigeons and Mourning doves. The eggs are lain in March and the young fledge in May. This falcon species was extirpated in the 1960's and 70's due to DDT poisoning.
